There are three cases when I see my past. One is to reflect on my past and push myself, the other is not to give others the same wound I got, the last one is to find out how to cope when something happens.
Living through a hardship all my life, I didn’t know how to get positive energy from the past. Unhappiness of the past was always bigger than small happiness and it didn’t let me see the small happiness in my life.
I experienced a hard time again a while before the work. It has been a long time since I was discharged from military and left the hospital, so I had to do something. Suddenly I thought of my past. I saw a thorny path passed and this time I saw small pieces of happiness that I wasn’t conscious of before. I recalled feelings of that time as much as possible and I felt I was healing one moment. So I learned another way to look at my past.
I once again decide to confront my past that had long been hidden. Now I kill my hurt-self and maximize happy moments in the room of my imagination, and move them on canvases.
We have to look back on ourselves to be a happier human. We have to know ourselves. I face my past every time I sit in front of my painting. The painful past becomes nothing and the smaller happiness becomes everything. That’s when I break free from my past without noticing.
