빛이 생겨라

빛은 무언가에 닿고 표면에 스며들어야 비로소 빛이 된다.

흙을 만져온 나날, 손끝으로 내면의 빛을 빚는다.

주정미의 첫 번째 개인전, 정통 창살 문양을 새기다 마주한 두 개의 십자가와 뚫린창호지 창처럼, 이번 전시는 삶의 궤적과 가족을 향한 마음이 머문 작고 따스한 빛의 틈을 세상에 조심스레 내어놓는 자리다.

매일의 밥상을 채우던 반상기에 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울의 순환하는 시간을 담아낸다. 봉오리에서 만개로 이어지는 형태와 계절의 볕을 닮아 번져가는 유약의 흐름은 흙과 불을 지나며 비로소 각 계절의 고유한 표정을 얻는다.

새롭게 일군 나만의 공간에서 쏘아 올린 이 소박하고 정직한 그릇들이, 전시를 마주하는 이들의 밥상과 마음에 따뜻한 빛 한 점으로 스며든다.

Light only becomes light when it touches a surface and seeps into its texture.

Through days spent working with clay, the artist's practice shapes the light within through tactile fingertips.

Unfolding like the two crosses encountered while carving traditional lattice motifs and the delicate glimpses seen through a pierced paper window, this exhibition gently presents the subtle, warm chinks of light that trace the trajectory of a life and a deep, devotional affection for family.

The collection explores the cyclical rhythm of the all Seasons within a traditional tableware set, the foundational vessels that anchor our daily meals. Silhouettes transitioning from tightly closed buds to full bloom, alongside an amalgam of glazes spreading like seasonal sunlight, pass through earth and fire to bring to life the distinct countenance of each season.

Conceived in a newly cultivated personal sanctuary, these honest, humble vessels enter into a quiet dialogue with the viewers, permeating their tables and hearts as a radiant ray of light.
