■ 전시 소개

10AAA Collective는 우승현의 개인전 《몸짓의 정원》(The Gardens of Gesture)을 소개한다. 이번 전시는 런던과 서울을 기반으로 활동해온 우승현의 작업은 반복적인 제스처에서 비롯된 조형적 감각을 바탕으로, 자연 속 정원을 연상케 하는 유기적이면서도 질서 있는 형상을화면에나타낸다. 물의 흐름처럼 유동적인움직임과, 층층이 겹쳐진 색채와 재료의 질감은 관람자로 하여금 깊은 시각적 몰입과 심리적 반응을유도한다. 이번 전시에서는 작가가 지난 10여 년간 참여한 영국, 이탈리아, 아이슬란드, 스페인 등의 국제 레지던시와 전시 경험을 토대로, 새롭게 선보이는 드로잉을 선보인다.

10AAA Collective presents The Gardens of Gesture, a solo exhibition by Seunghyun Woo. Based in both London and Seoul, Woo’s practice is rooted in the sculptural sensibility that emerges from repeated gestures. Her work evokes a sense of an organic yet orderly garden, shaped by the fluidity of movement reminiscent of flowing water. The layered colors and textures of materials create a deep visual immersion that elicits a psychological response from viewers.

This exhibition features a new series of drawings developed from Woo’s participation in international residencies and exhibitions over the past decade, including in the UK, Italy, Iceland, and Spain.

■ 작가 소개

우승현은 런던대학교 UCL 슬레이드 미술학교에서 조소 석사(MFA)를 마쳤으며, 서울대학교에서 조소를 전공하고 동 대학원 석사를 졸업하였다.

국제적인 예술 활동을 활발히 이어온 그는 영국, 이탈리아, 아이슬란드, 스페인 등에서 다양한 레지던시에 참여했고, 여러 국제 전시에 초대받으며 조형언어의 경계를 확장해왔다

주요 이력으로 It never be the same (아씨시 Ginestrelle 프로젝트, 이탈리아), POSSESSION (The Sasson Gallery, 런던), Underwater (영국 5개 미술관 투어 전시) 등이 있으며, 한국문화예술위원회(Arts Council Korea) 및 서울문화재단의 지원을 받아 다수의 프로젝트를 진행하였다.

Seunghyun Woo holds an MFA in Sculpture from the Slade School of Fine Art, University College London (UCL), and both MFA and BFA degrees in Sculpture from Seoul National University.

Her practice has spanned a wide range of international residencies and exhibitions, including:

● It never be the same, Ginestrelle Project, Assisi, Italy

● POSSESSION, The Sasson Gallery, London

● Underwater, a touring exhibition across five UK museums

She has received multiple grants from the Arts Council Korea and the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture in support of his practice.
