개나리미술관

개나리미술관은 2021년 9월 개관 이후 신진 작가를 발굴하고, 다양한 장르의 동시대 예술가들의 작업을 선보이며 활발한 전시 활동을 이어오고 있습니다. 기획전을 통해 예술적 담론을 형성하고 새로운 방향성을 모색하는 데 주력해왔으며, 지역 예술 생태계를 활성화하고 시민들이 예술을 보다 가까이 접할 수 있는 프로그램을 운영하고 있습니다.

신진 작가와 기성 작가들의 창작 활동을 지원하는 것은 물론, 미술 이론 스터디 그룹과 아티스트 토크 등을 운영하며 관람객과의 소통에도 힘쓰고 있습니다. 또한, 지역 미술 시장의 활성화를 위해 매년 봄 "개나리 아트페어"를 개최하여 예술가들의 작품 판로를 확대하고, 이를 통해 예술 생태계의 선순환 구조를 만들어가고자 합니다.

개나리미술관은 하나의 정형화된 방향성을 고집하기보다, 다양한 예술적 시도와 실험을 통해 정체성을 구축해가는 과정 속에 있으며, 이러한 유동성과 개방성은 끊임없이 변화하고 성장하는 공간임을 보여줍니다. 춘천의 시화(市花)인 개나리에서 이름을 딴 개나리미술관은 ‘춘천’이라는 지역성을 기반으로, 이곳에서 정주하며 활동하는 작가들의 창작 터전이 되고자 합니다. 앞으로도 다양한 전시와 예술 활동을 통해 지역 사회와 긴밀히 연결되며, 누구나 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 열린 공간으로 자리매김해 나갈 것입니다.

Since its opening in September 2021, Gallery Gaenaree has actively engaged in exhibitions, discovering emerging artists and showcasing the works of contemporary artists across various genres. Not only have we focused on forming artistic discourse and exploring new directions through curated exhibitions, but also have organized diverse programs aimed at revitalizing the local art ecosystem and bringing art closer to the community.

We strive not only for support for the work of both emerging and established artists, but also for meaningful communication with our visitors through the art theory study groups and the artist talks. Moreover, we host the "Gaenaree Art Fair" every spring to reinvigorate the local art market, to broaden sales channels for artists' works, and ultimately to create a virtuous cycle within the art ecosystem.

Rather than adhering to a single typical direction, Gallery Gaenaree has continuously been carving its identity through various artistic endeavors and experiments. This fluidity and openness illustrate that it is a space of constant change and growth. Named after the forsythia—Chunchon’s city flower—Gallery Gaenaree aspires to become a hub for work of local artists. The gallery will continue to forge ever-closer connections with the local community through diverse exhibitions and art programs, establishing its identity of welcoming open space for everyone.
